Copper Test Kits

- copper levels are measured by using an appropriate copper test-kit

  • These kits commonly produce a blue or green colour in the test-tube when testing for copper levels in the pool water
  • The copper level, in parts-per-million (ppm), is assessed by comparing the colour seen in the test tube to the colour chart, which comes as a part of the test-kit
  • Excess copper can cause staining of pool surfaces or water discoloration and can turn the hair (particularly of fair-haired people) or nails of swimmers green or blue
  • Therefore it is important to monitor and control copper levels
  • The recommended copper level is 0.2-0.3ppm

Copper can also be tested for by using a test-strip
